A fraction is a way of showing a part of a whole.
When something is divided into equal pieces and you take some of those pieces, that is called a fraction.

Imagine a pizza cut into 4 equal slices.
You eat 1 slice.

- 1 piece eaten
- out of 4 total pieces
We say it out loud as:
“One quarter”
π’ The Two Parts of a Fraction
Every fraction has TWO important parts.
1️⃣ Numerator (Top Number)
The numerator tells us:
π how many pieces we have
Example:
The numerator is 3
That means:
π we have 3 pieces

2️⃣ Denominator (Bottom Number)
The denominator tells us:
